View of Maspalomas

The entire strip of coastal resorts that includes San Agustín, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas and Meloneras is sometimes referred to as “Maspalomas, Costa Canaria”, however in this article we are referring to the area around the Maspalomas Lighthouse, the Sand Dunes, the Golf Course and Meloneras.

The Dunes of Maspalomas (now a Nature Reserve) and the resorts that have developed around them are the epicentre of Tourism in Gran Canaria. However, Maspalomas and Meloneras at the western end of this zone, with their Luxury Hotels and Bungalows, are the more upmarket and tranquil portion. While Maspalomas has a relatively quiet nightlife, lively Playa del Inglés is just a short Taxi ride away.

The famous dunes themselves lie to the east of the 56 metre Faro de Maspalomas Lighthouse, while the tasteful Paseo de Meloneras, with it’s sea-front Restaurants, Shops and Bars can be found just to the west of the same landmark. A special mention should also go to the Maspalomas Golf Course, which is located just behind the dunes.
